The Inclusion & Diversity team deliver a wide range of youth engagement projects that target hard to reach people, groups who are discriminated against and people with disabilities.
We deliver our programs in a vast area in west and central London ranging from Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Brent, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow and Hillingdon. We work alongside key partners to ensure that services are coordinated; we work in areas of high deprivation, support local community groups and support local schools to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to get involved in sport.
We deliver many social inclusion programs however our main projects are Kickz, Moving the Goalposts and White City Rangers. These projects target young people living in areas of high deprivation. The purpose of these projects is to divert young people away from engaging or becoming victims of crime and anti social behaviour. We use football and the power of being a professional football club to educate young people on pertinent topics such as the dangers of carrying knives, sexual health and drug and alcohol abuse. We are dedicated to supporting our community and developing our participant’s potential whether that is enrolling them on a coaching course, encouraging them to join college or supporting them to try a new sport.
We also run a hugely successful disability program which saw us win the disability football project of the year at the recent football league awards. Our disability programs see us deliver football to people with Down Syndrome, learning disabilities, deaf and mental health illness. Our disability program is aimed at ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to access football, despite of a disability – our sessions are fun and progressive and we aim to be as inclusive as possible with our delivery.
One of our stand out projects the Down Syndrome Tiger Cubs has won numerous awards and is now expanding to ensure more people with down syndrome can access football and multi sports.
