The Extra Time Club

The QPR Extra Time club started in November 2009 and since then has gone from strength to strength. The project is for local residents aged 60+ and is run every Wednesday morning for two hours at Loftus Road Stadium. The Trust receives funding and support from The City Bridge Trust to deliver the project and it is now so popular that the membership is full.

The aims of the programme are as follows:

  • To deliver a varied physical activity programme in 6 week blocks. The aim is to have a positive impact on their physical health and well being; increasing muscle strength, flexibility and increase awareness of the positive impacts of being physically active.
  • To provide a platform for increased socialisation, reducing loneliness and isolation. To create friendships, laughter and fun for the group.
  • To increase awareness of health issues in partnership with NHS Hammersmith & Fulham e.g. screening, falls prevention and healthy eating.
  • To make the group feel part of QPR and have an affiliation to the club.
  • The group to have an input into how the sessions are run.
  • To extend opportunities outside of the group for participants.

Members have taken part in the following activities: Tai Chi, Aerobics, Line Dancing, Croquet and Boules, Yoga and Bowling. They also have an annual Christmas party and day trip.
