BBC School Report

As part of the BBC School Report initiative secondary aged students were given expert tuition on a range of journalism and broadcasting skills that they put to good use to produce their own news reports.

Students were given the task to research a topical news story that interested them. They then had to plan their interviews, write and record their script, and edit the final cut. Using the up to date IT facilities in the QPR study centre students were able to record, edit and broadcast their news reports from within the Loftus Road Stadium.

One group of students were interested in exploring the state of womens football in England. The BBC Mentor was very impressed with the quality of work, and their news story was broadcast live on national radio as part of 5Live’s Victoria Derbyshire show.
