Show Racism the Red Card

QPR has staunchly supported the Show Racism the Red Card campaign and was one of the first Clubs to reach preliminary levels of the Racial Equality Standard.

Not only that, but the R’s Football in the Community department was the first department as a whole to be inducted into the Show Racism the Red Card Hall of Fame, in recognition of our work in combating racism and raising awareness.

SRTRC aims to combat racism through anti-racism education. Research into the problem by the campaign has shown that most common reason for racism is through ignorance and a lack of proper education in what the issue is all about.

The scheme believes that creating role models who can go into schools or communities and tackle the issue head on. The attraction of football, and its power to bring people together, served as a perfect place from which to create these role models, but it is also important to create role models within the community on a local level.

To support these role models, SRTRC produces a great deal of written literature they send to schools and communities, whilst also encouraging young people to create their own anti-racism propaganda, and deliver workshops around the country.

QPR host several of these workshops, with members of the Rangers squad involved, talking about their experiences of racism. The team posed for a team photo displaying SRTRC t-shirts and placards, and also wore t-shirts in the ‘Kick it Out’ action month in October.
